Southwestern musings - May 21, 2010

Travels through New Mexico were amazing. Last time I was here some friends mentioned the town of Bisbee and said I should make it a point to go by there if I had a chance. Well, it didn't work out the last time but I managed to include it this trip and I have to say I'm very glad I did. It's a mining town from the 1800s and a lot of the character from that time still exists. well worth the detour.

On the way out of New Mexico I stopped in Clovis and took a look at the Clovis Music Museum and then drove by Norman Petty Studios. This was the very place that Buddy Holly recorded "That'll be the Day" and countless other hits. Waylon Jennings, Roy Orbison, The Fireballs and many others recorded there as well. It was both thought-provoking and inspiring to see the place where such musical history was made.

Off to Texas!

Back home (for a little while, anyway!) - February 25, 2010

I got back from a short California coastal tour last night. With shows in Santa Barbara, Monterey, Watsonville, Cupertino, Stinson Beach, Paso Robles, and San Luis Obispo. Once again I was struck with how beautiful a piece of planet Earth that stretch of land is!  ;^)
