American Songwriter review

I got word a week or so ago that the July/August issue of American Songwriter magazine would include a review of the new album and I've been waiting to see it with my own eyes. Well, I just got back from my local news stand where I purchased a copy and sure enough, it's there! It's exciting to see it print! It was so surreal to walk up to the news stand, shop through all the magazines there, find the one I was looking for, open it up and find the review of my album there (Page 71 ;^) and then walk over and…Read more

Back in L.A...for a moment

This last NW tour was one of the best ever. Response to the new album has been very positive and once again I have to take a moment to savor how lucky I am. Well, I'll be....

I got to San Francisco to the place I'll be playing tonight a little early so I went online to check my mail. I just discovered that while I was driving, "Tempest in a teacup" moved into the #1 position in the Indie-Music Adult Contemporary chart! Wow...I'm flying right now. :^)

Top 10 in the Indie Charts!

Just discovered I'm "in the charts"! My song "Tempest in a teacup" has climbed to #7 on the Indie-Music.com Adult Contemporary chart. Umm, I'm not sure what that means but I have to admit it makes me smile! :^) Take a look; http://tinyurl.com/cykvys

Wisdom...or not

The start of the '09 Northwest tour was delayed last week due to a wisdom tooth that required surgery. Recovery is coming along nicely and the next date on the tour - April 23rd at Caffe Trieste in San Francisco is "all systems go"!

By Stuart Thornton After sifting through ample biographical data and conducting an in-depth interview, I’ve determined that there were two instances in James Hurley’s life that led him towards his career as a popular Los Angeles based singer/songwriter. (Hurley was named one of Folkworks Magazine’s Top 10 Live Acoustic Male Singer/Songwriters in L.A. for 2008.) The first incident…Read more
